Isabela Morales's first book, Happy Dreams of Liberty: An American Family in Slavery and Freedom, was published by Oxford University Press in 2022 and received multiple awards in the history of slavery, Civil War history, legal history, and Alabama history, including the Gilder Lehrman Center at Yale University's 2023 Frederick Douglass Book Prize.
She is currently writing her second book, tentatively titled The Black Widow of Hazel Green, for Liveright at W. W. Norton. Learn more about her book projects below. |
